I'm not normally a scatter brain, but for some reason this week I seem to have left my brain somewhere else. It could possibly be due to things that have happened at work which have focused my brain on other things, maybe I'm getting prematurely old and forgetful. Who knows. However, these are the things I have learnt so far this week.
1) Wednesday: Taking the wrong coffee pot off the machine, will cause a mess, as well as risk of scalding. Fortunately, the latter was avoided. Unfortunately the former did! How did it happen? Making coffee for work colleagues, and there wasn't enough in the one pot for them all. Quick transfer of the coffee pot to the spare hot plate, and a new jug on was all I needed to do. Why oh why did I then decide to try and take coffee from the pot that was being filled? Half a roll of kitchen paper later and the mess was cleaned up. Well as much as I could get to anyway. So apologies to whoever has to clear up the dried coffee when the coffee maker is moved to the new kitchen next week.
2) Thursday: When your boss says you can work from home on Friday, it's necessary to take the work laptop, and any paperwork you have prepared, with you when you leave the building. It's not the best idea to drive almost a third of the way home, and then realise that working from home is going to be almost impossible without them!
3) Friday: When making a cup of coffee, it's important to remember to boil the kettle first. Cold water doesn't dissolve the coffee, and I'd guess it probably doesn't taste too great either.
Finally, 4) Also Friday: Pressing the unlock button while pointing your car keys at the wrong silver Astra will not open the doors! Maybe I shouldn't have such a common car!

January (Catch Up post)
As Christmas seems such a long time ago and is just a blur with no really interesting news to report, I'll skip straight to January.
New Year was seen in with cocktails, TV & board games. Maybe not that exciting, but the thought of paying ridiculous amounts of money to go out on New Years Eve doesn't really appeal to me. Husband's birthday is in early January so I decided to give him one of his presents early - a cocktail shaker. The rest of the cocktail making equipment followed a week later on his actual birthday, and so our addiction to trying out different alcoholic concoctions has begun!
(Please excuse the TV, medicines & general crap that features in my photos)
January was a busy month for me at work, with the launch of a new product, involving me in a series of launch events. I felt very lucky to be part of something so exciting and only wished I'd been more involved in the planning & organisation than I was. There's something exciting about planning events, and meeting the people who attend them that makes me wonder if this is a career path I should have chosen. Although I've probably only got the planning and organising bug since planning our wedding.
The product launch events were held over 3 days in 3 UK locations, involving long days and lots of travelling. I don't think I've ever been as tired as I was when I arrived home at the end of it. This is where I am lucky to have a good man to come home to. A man who had cleaned the house in my absence and cooked for me on my return. A man who let me do nothing for a whole weekend after, while I recovered.
At the end of January we went on a snowboarding holiday in Vaujany, in the French Alps. I was a bit apprehensive about a group holiday as I was going to be a slow learner, in a group of intermediate to advanced snowboarders. Part of me was also gutted at the holiday clashing with a work exhibition in Orlando, which I had been lucky to have been offered the chance to go to. I would have loved to have gone to the exhibition, as I love the excitement of meeting new people, and gaining new contacts for the company I work for. Some people probably think I was just disappointed to not be going to Florida, but in reality I wouldn't have cared if it was in Blackpool! For me it was about the exhibition & the opportunity to be part of something, not the location. I just hope there will be other opportunities.
Anyway, enough about work and back to the holiday! We flew to Grenoble on Saturday, 28th January, ready to meet up with the rest of the group and begin a lovely snowy holiday. The forecast looked like we were going to get loads of snow, so we were very excited about the week ahead.
To be continued (after the housework!) ........

Thankful Thursday
Inspired by a fellow blogger, I thought I'd share the things I have to be thankful for this week.
1) My husband - For being there for me, for listening to me getting upset over silly things, and making me see sense. For cooking my tea 2 nights running, and doing the shopping this week so I can get on with making some Sock Creatures.
2) My friends - I'm talking about my online friends who have also been supportive this week, and also have been helping me find new fans for my Sock Creations facebook page.
3) My bosses - For seeing the potential I have to do bigger and better things, and for putting measures in place to allow me the opportunity to move into a more involved job role. This makes me feel very appreciated and valued. No boss has ever made me feel like this before, and this has given me a much needed confidence boost.
What do you have to be thankful for this Thursday?

Hooray for the weekend
It's Friday night, and as usual I'm feeling ready for bed at 9pm. It's been quite a quick week at work, even though I haven't been very busy. It's been quite a positive week, with hints of some exciting changes on the horizon, which has made me feel better after the horrible comments that were made by a colleague last week. I need to learn not to take things to heart, but it's easier said than done, especially when I don't think that highly of myself anyway. Although, these comments still play over in my head, I can laugh them of as stupid thoughtless things, especially after telling a close work colleague about the incident, who thought they were stupid too. Add this to some positive comments made by two bosses this week, and I feel much better about things.
Anyway, back to the weekend, and the plans I have made for it. Tomorrow my husband is taking his Dad to Wimpole Hall for their 1940s weekend, and I have the house to myself for the afternoon. My plan is to finish cleaning my sock creature room, and then get busy with the sewing machine. On Sunday we are heading over to West Raynham again for another VW meet. This could possibly be the last outing in the campervan this year so will be making the most of it, and hope for lots of great photos in front of the old buildings. Then it's time for an early night, as I have an early start on Monday to attend a Conference with work. This will be the second time I have stayed away for this job, and although I'm going to miss my husband lots, I'm looking forward to the experience of going away with work, meeting customers, and learning more about the industry in which I am working. I'm also secretly looking forward to dressing up on Monday night as Britney Spears, in naughty school girl outfit!

Happy Happy Happy
Just a short post from me tonight. Thought I should write something, seeing as I haven't updated for a couple of weeks. So I'm going to write a brief summary about how I feel my life is so good right now.
Last weekend was the 10th anniversary of 9/11 and watching the memorial ceremonies and thinking about all those people who lost loved ones, made me think about how much I have in my life to be thankful for, how short life is, and how we should make the most of every minute.
So what do I have to be thankful for?
For starters there's my husband, a.k.a. Mr Perfect. For years I waited for him, wasting time with Mr Wrong and watching other women get married, start families, and be happy. Then along he came, and although some people may think things moved along pretty quickly, the only thing I wish had happened differently was that we'd met sooner.
Then there's my family. I have wonderful parents who have brought me up well. Although they may not live nearby, I know that they are at the other end of the phone and would support me through thick & thin. There's my siblings, younger and older who I love dearly, and 4 lovely nephews who I am so proud of. I mustn't forget my beautiful step-daughter.
I'm lucky to have lots of friends, both in the real life and in the virtual world. I may not have one close friend like most women have, but I know there are many I can turn to in times of need.
Then there's my job, which in some ways is similar to my husband. I spent years in the wrong job, working hard for little reward, going home in tears week in week out, after being made to cry by the boss. This year, I got out, got myself a new job, and things have never looked so positive. I now work for a great company, with a great boss, and great colleagues. I never thought I'd say it, but I actually look forward to going to work in the morning.
To cap it all off, I am on a diet and starting to get my body back to looking how it did before the wedding. So far I've lost four and a half pounds and it's only been 2 weeks.
Let's hope the happiness continues.
